Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Hands down one of the best and valuable books I've bought lately.
A picture book for grown-ups, this book is chock-full with life, beauty, folly and - above all - inspiration.
Not only are the pictures themselves gorgeous (as are the depicted people, of course) and very well made, the additional sentences or short dialogue fragments add to the whole "reading" experience.
For a writer the book has an additional value, as (future) characters virtually jump at you. Every page holds another possible story, another fictitious life.
Apart from all that, while flipping through the pages, you cannot help but keep thinking: "Good gracious! I just encountered a fairytale land far far away, and it's called New York".
